Job Overview Express Employment Professionals is seeking a skilled and dedicated Sandblaster/Painter to join a local company in Cape Girardeau, MO. This role involves preparing surfaces, applying paint, coatings, and finishes to a variety of residential, commercial, and industrial projects. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of color theory, surface preparation, and the safe operation of hand tools and power equipment. All roles are paid positions, emphasizing the importance of professionalism and skill development. Responsibilities Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, and applying primers to ensure optimal paint adhesion. Apply paint, stains, varnishes, and other coatings using brushes, rollers, airless sprayers, or other equipment. Read blueprints and schematics to accurately determine project scope and specifications. Perform surface repairs including plastering, caulking, and restoration work to ensure smooth finishes. Utilize hand tools such as putty knives, scrapers, and trowels along with power tools for detailed work. Execute specialized tasks such as stucco application, masonry finishing, or frame carpentry as needed. Install fixtures, trim carpentry elements, or perform renovation tasks to meet project requirements. Maintain safety standards on construction sites by adhering to protocols for working with scaffolding, welding equipment, or hazardous materials. Collaborate with project managers and other tradespeople to ensure timely completion of projects. Assist with estimating project costs related to materials and labor when required. Requirements Proven experience in residential painting, commercial painting, or construction painting environments. Knowledge of construction estimating processes and basic math skills for measurements and calculations. Familiarity with blueprint reading and schematics interpretation. Hands-on experience with hand tools and power tools including airless paint sprayers. Skills in plastering, caulking, trim carpentry, stucco application, masonry, and concrete finishing are highly desirable. Ability to read technical drawings such as schematics or renovation plans. Construction site experience with an understanding of safety protocols and site management. Basic carpentry skills including framing and fixture installation. Strong attention to detail coupled with excellent organizational skills. Valid experience in maintenance tasks such as welding or handyman work is advantageous.
