Job Description

PLUMBER Facility Services Classified Job Number 2300289942 Start Date Open Date 12/02/2025 Closing Date The duties include but are not limited to: Performs plumbing tasks in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water and drainage systems. Makes general repairs to existing installations of water, waste, waste disposal, sprinkler systems, sewer plants, lift stations, and other plumbing installation. Installs plumbing systems in buildings. Replaces, cleans, and makes repairs to flush valves and faucets. Removes stoppage from sewer lines. Cuts, seams, and threads pipes. Inspects sanitary and other plumbing installations for needed repairs. Prepares estimates of materials. Cuts, fits, and seals plastic pipes. Maintains accurate and timely records of time, labor, and materials. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with Supervisors, Foremen, and other employees. Completes work assignments without close supervision. Completes all projects to neatness conformance with standards of related trade. May be assigned other duties as required. This position may also be required to work after hours, on weekends, and to perform duties on shift work schedules, when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a high school or trade school graduate from a regionally accredited school or have GED equivalent. Must have five (5) years of experience in plumbing trade or an equivalent combination of training and experience. May be required to pass a Mechanical Aptitude Test. Must possess a Journeyman's License in Plumbing or ability to obtain. Must have knowledge of practices, methods, materials, and tools of boiler repair and maintenance, and plumbing. Must be familiar with the National Plumbing Code. Must have the ability to understand and effectively carry out oral and written instructions. Must be skilled in the use and care of tools, material, and equipment of the trade. Must possess a valid Alabama Driver's License. May be required to obtain a Commercial Driver's License. Must be insurable as determined by an investigation by MCPSS personnel into private and business driving records within any consecutive three-year time frame. Duty Days 260
Salary Range:
From/To Beginning pay - $47,181.00 Additional Job Information •Applicants selected for classified positions must undergo (or have undergone) an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and be declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.•
