- Commission Based | The Honest Plumbers Commission-based residential plumbing position averaging $60-120+/hour depending on experience, availability, and job type.
Expected commitment is approximately 5-15 hours per week covering residential plumbing service calls throughout Washington DC, Fairfax, Arlington, and surrounding areas. This position is ideal for an experienced licensed plumber looking for flexible side work and consistent residential service calls without needing to handle customer service, marketing, scheduling, or payment collection. We handle the calls, scheduling, customer communication, and payment processing. Your responsibility is to show up professionally, diagnose the issue, provide accurate quotes when needed, and complete the work properly. We are actively growing and looking for long-term technicians who want consistent residential service work without needing to handle customer acquisition or scheduling. Reliable technicians with strong communication and availability will receive priority for higher-volume service opportunities. Duties Residential home service plumbing Drain cleaning and stoppages Toilet repair and replacement Faucet and fixture replacement Leak diagnosis and repair Water heater diagnosis and replacement Sump pump diagnosis and replacement Garbage disposal replacement Diagnosing plumbing issues and quoting customers Communicating clearly regarding availability, ETAs, and job updates Servicing all jobs assigned within Washington DC, Fairfax, and Arlington areas Qualifications Licensed and insured plumber required Minimum 2+ years of residential plumbing experience preferred Must have own vehicle and plumbing tools Must be comfortable with commission/profit split compensation Ability to diagnose and complete jobs independently Must be reliable with strong communication Must proactively communicate schedule changes or availability updates Must be comfortable with management handling calls, customer service, scheduling, and payment collection Good English communication skills required Consistent communication and reliability are required Compensation & Benefits Paid per inspection/service call Commission/profit split on completed jobs Flexible scheduling with the ability to choose your own hours Consistent residential plumbing service calls provided No lead generation or customer acquisition required Typical jobs include residential service calls, diagnostics, replacements, and emergency plumbing requests.
