Position Summary We are seeking a licensed, high-performing Lead Service Plumber to anchor our plumbing department. This is a working leadership role: you will spend roughly 70-80% of your time in the field managing complex diagnostic, repair, and installation calls, and 20-30% of your time mentoring junior technicians, ensuring quality control, and helping grow the plumbing division. The ideal candidate brings master-level trade expertise, flawless customer-facing communication, and a natural ability to coach others toward hitting performance goals. Key Responsibilities and Duties Field Service & Technical Excellence (Working Plumber)
Advanced Diagnostics:
Promptly and accurately diagnose and repair complex residential issues with tank/tankless water heaters, DWV (drain, waste, and vent) systems, gas lines, fixtures, and water filtration setups.
Code Compliance:
Maintain an absolute standard of quality, adhering strictly to all local, state, and national plumbing codes. Secure necessary permits and coordinate inspections.
Customer Experience:
Clearly communicate diagnostic findings, upfront repair/replacement options, and pricing transparency to homeowners. Ensure the work area is left spotless.
Emergency Response:
Lead by example by participating in the on-call rotation to provide after-hours emergency services.
Departmental Leadership & Coaching Technical Mentorship:
Serve as the go-to field authority for residential technicians. Ride along with junior plumbers and apprentices to evaluate technical skills, soft skills, and safety protocols.
Quality Assurance:
Conduct random post-job audits to ensure company installation and service standards are met across the entire department.
Operations Partnership:
Partner with dispatch and the Branch Manager to optimize daily call booking, maximize truck capacity, and resolve escalated customer service issues.
Tool & Fleet Oversight:
Assist in monitoring the condition of department vehicles, specialized equipment, and inventory levels to keep the team field-ready.
Qualifications Required Qualifications Experience:
Minimum of 4-5 years of verifiable experience performing residential plumbing service and installation, with a proven track record of top-tier performance.
Technical Breadth:
Comprehensive knowledge of residential plumbing systems, including domestic water, natural gas, and complex drain-waste-vent (DWV) systems.
Leadership Aptitude:
Previous experience as a team lead, foreman, or trainer is highly preferred; must demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills.
Mobility:
Valid state-issued Driver's License and a clean driving record.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs, handle heavy tools, and maneuver comfortably in tight spaces (crawlspaces, attics) under diverse weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications Backflow Testing Certification. Deep experience with advanced water treatment, water softening, and water conditioning infrastructure. Familiarity with modern field service software (e.g., ServiceTitan).
Licensure:
