AnnuallyPOSITION OVERVIEW JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent performs journey level tasks in the Plumbing field. This person may also be asked to assist other trades as needed in the field of Carpentry, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Painting, and Locksmith duties. These duties include installation, inspection, maintenance, repair or replacement of machinery, mechanical equipment, piping, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and locksmith-related tasks. The following list of specific statements of duties does not preclude management from assigning such duties if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position. Work assignments will come from work orders, blueprints, drawings, crude sketches, and verbal or written instructions.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A High School Diploma and four years of Plumbing experience or completion of an approved apprenticeship program. Approved vocational/technical training may substitute at equivalent rate for the required experience.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
The incumbent must possess the knowledge and ability to read and understand mechanical construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and local, state, and national plumbing codes and regulations. Understand and consistently apply internal department standard operating procedures and University polices.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Four years experience in Plumbing field.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES
85% - The incumbent is responsible for the maintenance and repair of plumbing and plumbing systems in university buildings and building systems to include both potable water and wastewater. This person carries out a variety of duties to include but not limited to:- Maintenance and installation of various piping systems include natural gas, air, water and vacuum.
- Cuts and threads pipe using pipe-cutter and threading machine.
- Assembles and installs valves, faucets, traps, wash bowls, sewers, vents, etc.
- Clears clogged drains, using roto-rooter or other plumbing equipment.
- Assembles, installs, and repairs routine plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, water fountains, etc.
- Repair or replace flushing systems such as pistons, arms, vacuum breakers, ball cocks, strainers, seals, etc.
- Diagnose and repair kitchen equipment such as garbage hog, sinks, dish washer, tray conveyer, steamer, etc.
- The incumbent performs a variety of preventive maintenance inspections to identify any damage or deterioration which has occurred since the last inspection. Document inspection results and submit those findings along with recommendations for corrective action to their immediate supervisor.
- Conducts weekly safety shower and eyewash stations inspections.
- Estimate materials, equipment, and labor time for plumbing projects.
- Weld, solder, or join pipes using approved methods.
- Keep detailed records of work performed, materials used, and project progress.
