Plumber Job Description This role involves performing underground and above-ground plumbing work on large commercial new construction and renovation projects. You will install and repair drain, waste, and vent systems, domestic water and sanitary systems, and complete both rough-in and finish phases, including fixtures and hardware. The position requires strong technical skills in pipe installation, blueprint reading, and working with a variety of materials such as cast iron, PVC, CPVC, copper, and PEX. Responsibilities Install, repair, and maintain pipes, fittings, and fixtures for heating, water, and drainage systems in accordance with specifications and applicable plumbing codes. Perform rough-in plumbing work above ground and underground, including installing vents, sewers, connections, and waterlines for large commercial projects. Complete finish and trim-out phases by installing and connecting fixtures and hardware such as toilets, sinks, and related components so they are ready for use. Work with cast iron pipe and no-hub systems to install and maintain drain, waste, and vent systems. Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angles using pipe cutters, hand tools, power tools, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines. Install CPVC, PVC, copper, and PEX piping systems, including domestic water lines and sanitary lines. Install hangers and supports for piping and fixtures to ensure proper alignment and secure installation. Read and interpret blueprints and specifications to determine layout, routing, and installation requirements for plumbing systems. Work effectively on new construction and renovation projects in large commercial, institutional, and hospitality environments. Collaborate with other contractors and trades on-site to coordinate work and maintain project schedules. Use basic hand tools and plumbing equipment safely and efficiently while maintaining a clean and organized work area. Follow all site safety procedures and standards while working in active construction environments and outdoor conditions. Essential Skills Minimum 5 years of plumbing experience, preferably in large commercial construction. Proficiency in underground and above-ground rough-in plumbing, including vents, sewers, connections, and waterlines. Experience completing finish and trim-out phases, including installation of toilets, sinks, and related hardware. Ability to install and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures for heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes. Strong ability to measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe using pipe cutters, hand tools, power tools, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines. Hands-on experience with cast iron pipe, no-hub systems, CPVC, PVC, copper, and PEX piping. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications accurately. New construction and renovation experience in large commercial settings, including domestic water and sanitary systems. Capability to install fixtures, hangers, and piping to required standards. Ownership and competent use of basic hand tools required for plumbing work. Mechanical aptitude and strong piping installation skills. Work Environment This position is based on a new construction site in the Sarasota, FL area, specifically supporting work on a large aircraft hangar project. You will work primarily outdoors and must be comfortable working in the elements, including heat and other weather conditions typical of an open construction site. The work environment involves collaborating closely with other contractors and trades, operating in an active job site with ongoing construction activities. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing a consistent daytime work pattern. You will regularly use hand and power tools, pipe-threading machines, pipe-bending machines, and other mechanical equipment typical of commercial plumbing work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sarasota, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $35.00/hr.
