Job Description
Duties/Responsibilities Install and repair water, gas, air, and drain piping systems. Perform routine plumbing service, maintenance, and repair work on commercial and residential plumbing systems. Install and repair water heaters, domestic hot water boilers, circulating pumps, backflow preventers, and thermostatic mixing valves. Perform drain cleaning and preventative maintenance services. Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and piping composed of cast iron, steel, brass, PVC, and copper. Join pipes using screws, bolts, fittings, soldering, plastic solvents, and other approved methods. Install and repair plumbing fixtures, carriers, sinks, toilets, bathtubs, water heaters, and hot water storage tanks. Diagnose and troubleshoot common plumbing issues and determine appropriate repair solutions. Cut, thread, fit, and prepare pipe for installation and repair. Capable of cutting appropriately sized openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings. Read and interpret work orders, specifications, and installation instructions. Maintain accurate service records, work documentation, and material usage reports. Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in a clean and organized condition. Maintain positive customer relationships by communicating professionally, keeping work areas clean, and resolving customer concerns when possible. Observe job sites and report or correct unsafe working conditions. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to advance plumbing knowledge and technical skills. Required Skills/Abilities Must possess a valid state driver's license and pass an MVR check. Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening. Must be able to climb ladders and work from heights in excess of 4 feet. Ability to perform routine plumbing service and repair work with minimal supervision. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Desire to learn the plumbing trade and develop technical skills. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under supervision. Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn. Basic mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and understand safety procedures and operating instructions. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, customers, and dispatch personnel. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Enrollment in or completion of a plumbing apprenticeship program is preferred but not required. Previous construction, maintenance, mechanical, or trade experience is a plus. Valid state driver's license required. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Must possess the ability to adjust focus for close-up work, with or without correction. Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, climb, crawl, and work in confined spaces for extended periods. Must be able to pass a physical ability test. Must be able to work in varying indoor and outdoor environmental conditions.
