Role:
This position is responsible for general facility, building and equipment maintenance and repair, both scheduled and unscheduled tasks, as assigned by the Call Center and/or Facilities and Maintenance management. In general, tasks that will be completed include: Work Order completion, Preventative Maintenance completion, problem identification and resolution, design of minor plumbing/piping systems, determination of material and supplies required for problem resolution, documentation of activities, utilization of the Computer Maintenance Management System, and communicating with the department's management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs all duties and responsibilities of the Maintenance Mechanic I and Maintenance Mechanic II -Plumbing classification. Installs, inspects, tests, diagnoses, maintains, replaces and repairs new and existing plumbing/piping systems such as domestic water, sanitary and waste water, fire protection, steam and condensate, cooling and hot water heating, medical gas and vacuum piping systems, large diameter pipes, flanged and Victaulic pipe fittings and specialized commercial plumbing equipment such as automatic temperature control valves, pipe-line filters, plumbing fixtures, plumbing components, etc. according to departmental procedures, manufacturer's specifications and regulatory requirements Utilizes and operates power pipe threading and other plumbing equipment, such as pipe freezing equipment, hot tap equipment, concrete core-drilling machine, etc. according to departmental procedures Designs minor plumbing/piping systems and/or system alterations and plan specifications utilizing data and standard engineering practices. Determines specialized equipment and components to be used in the alteration of plumbing/piping systems. Determines project scope of work, schedules, manpower, material, equipment, etc. to perform and complete tasks. Request appropriate materials, supplies, and equipment needed to perform assigned tasks and secures same from stock and/or procures required material. Develops project schedules, scope of work and project requirements Maintains work areas, equipment rooms, and tools so as to be operational, clean and orderly, per departmental guidelines. Performs scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks as assigned and assists any higher departmental job classification as assigned. Documents work activity both by written means and electronically by use of the Computer Maintenance Management System, per departmental guidelines. Reads and interprets written specifications, work orders, written and oral instructions, models and graphic illustrations such as lay-out diagrams, blueprints, work sketches, etc. Mentors newly assigned employees Coordinates plumbing/piping work schedule with other trade mechanics such as electricians, HVACR mechanics, carpenters, etc. to ensure timely completion of tasks/projects Utilizes computer-based hospital systems for education, performance reviews, email, etc.
REQUIREMENTS

Education:
Associate's degree preferred
Experience:
5-7 years of commercial plumbing experience
Certification/Licensure:
State of Maryland Journeyman Plumber license, Full MD Driver's license and good driving record. Union rate $30.68/hour
