Job Description

HVAC Teacher SALARYCommensurate with certification and experience based on the Wicomico County Salary Scale for Teachers, includes employee benefits package.

HOURSFull time 10-month position (190 contract days).
Contract Unit:
This position is part of the Unit I (Certificated) bargaining unit.

ExemptQualifications:
  • Must be willing to meet Maryland teacher licensure requirements.
  • Possess or be eligible to obtain a Master HVAC License
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as an HVAC technician
  • Ability to differentiate classroom lessons to a diverse student population.
  • Leadership and personal qualities necessary to work effectively with students, teachers, and administrators.
Responsibilities:
  • The purpose of this teaching position is to prepare students for successful transition to post-secondary education or the workplace upon graduation as an HVAC student.
The teacher will educate students in basic safety, residential and commercial HVAC, knowledge of circuits, electrical equipment, interpretation of plans and blueprints, use of plumbing in the HVAC trade. The instructor is also responsible for the students to successfully complete the EPA Section 608 certification exam and OSHA 10 certification.
  • Basic responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals as established by the county and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employ instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attend to such activities as faculty meetings, PTA meetings, parent meetings, and other teaching-related duties as specified in Article 4 of the Negotiated Agreement between the Wicomico County Board of Education and the Wicomico County Education Association.
