This role requires a professional who can work independently while maintaining high standards of safety, workmanship, and compliance with applicable plumbing codes and project specifications. Primary Function The Journeyman Plumber is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of plumbing systems in residential and commercial buildings, as well as construction environments.
Essential Responsibilities Residential and Commercial Plumbing Installation :
Install residential and commercial plumbing systems including water supply, waste, and vent systems Install fixtures, valves, piping systems, and associated plumbing equipment Read and interpret commercial construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications Ensure installations meet applicable plumbing codes and project requirements
System Maintenance and Repairs:
Diagnose plumbing system issues in commercial facilities Perform repairs and replacements of piping systems, valves, and plumbing fixtures Test plumbing systems to ensure proper operation and identify leaks or deficiencies
Jobsite Coordination:
Collaborate with general contractors, project managers, and other trades on job sites Follow project timelines, installation plans, and job specifications Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites
Safety Compliance :
Follow OSHA safety regulations and company safety procedures Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times Identify, report, and address jobsite hazards as appropriate Qualifications Valid Oregon Journeyman Plumber License Demonstrated experience with residential and commercial plumbing systems Demonstrated experience with drain cleaning Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and blueprints Working knowledge of plumbing codes, regulations, and safety standards Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record that meets insurance requirements Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with customers, contractors, and team members, and effectively resolve issues without unnecessary conflict Physical Requirements Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work in confined spaces for extended periods Ability to work on ladders, elevated surfaces, and active construction sites Ability to safely access and work in crawl spaces and attics Preferred Experience working on commercial projects Experience installing and maintaining mechanical room systems and both residential and commercial piping networks Knowledge of and/or experience performing residential and commercial service plumbing work Work Environment Employees in this role will regularly work in a variety of residential and commercial settings, including: Occupied homes during service, repair, and remodeling projects Active construction and renovation sites Mechanical rooms, utility spaces, and equipment areas Crawl spaces, attics, and other confined work environments Outdoor job sites in varying weather and environmental conditions Compensation & Benefits $45+ per hour, DOE Stipend for Medical Insurance Tools and Equipment Journeyman plumbers are expected to maintain and safely use the tools and equipment necessary to perform plumbing work. This may include hand tools, power tools, pipe cutting and threading equipment, and testing devices. Employees must follow company safety protocols when operating all equipment.
