Full Job Description Duties:
Under general supervision, the Building Technician IV (Plumbing) performs skilled apprentice-level plumbing work in the installation, maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of plumbing, gas, and related mechanical systems in City-owned facilities. This position ensures that plumbing systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Work includes new installations, preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and support during inspections. The employee exercises independent judgment within established guidelines and may assist higher-level technicians on complex projects. Perform apprentice-level skilled work installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing and heating systems in municipal facilities. Install, modify, and repair gas lines in accordance with applicable codes and safety standards. Service heating and cooling water supply lines and related plumbing components. Install, maintain, and repair lavatories, commodes, sinks, drinking fountains, faucets, tubs, water heaters, and other plumbing fixtures and equipment. Install new plumbing systems including pipes, valves, drains, basins, traps, and related components. Repair and replace defective fixtures and pipelines; renew washers and valves; clear and open clogged drains and traps using appropriate tools and equipment. Solder, braze, and repair copper piping; cut, thread, and assemble pipe using hand and power tools. Perform preventative maintenance on sump pumps, water heaters, and related equipment. Assist with annual inspections, compliance testing, and safety checks of plumbing and gas systems. Diagnose plumbing issues and determine appropriate corrective actions. Prepare cost estimates for time, materials, and equipment required for assigned projects. Complete daily work orders, maintenance logs, inspection reports, and other required documentation accurately and timely. Follow all City safety policies, OSHA standards, and applicable building and plumbing codes. Respond to emergency maintenance calls as required. Maintain tools, equipment, and assigned vehicles in safe and working condition. Maintain regular and punctual attendance in accordance with City policies. Must have and maintain, without interruption, required certifications and licenses. Works assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policies.
Qualifications :
High School Diploma or GED. Two (2) years of experience in the plumbing trade. Possess a current Texas Apprentice Plumber's License. A valid Texas Driver's License and a good driving record. The City of Pasadena offers very generous benefits to all full-time employees .

As an employee, you will contribute a portion of your salary each pay-period towards your retirement and the City will match your contribution by 200% . Example, if you contribute $100, the City will contribute $200. Civilian employees accumulate vacation at the following rates: Less than 6 years of service
  • two weeks of vacation per year. From 6 to less than 11 years of service
  • three weeks of vacation per year. From 11 to less than 21 years of service
  • four weeks of vacation per year. From 21 to less than 26 years of service
  • five weeks of vacation per year. From 26 years of service and up
  • six weeks of vacation per year.
