HOURLY SALARY RANGE
Minimum $21.57, Midpoint $25.99, Maximum $30.41 Primary Purpose Assemble, install, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems. Qualifications Education/Certification High school diploma or GED Plumber Journeyman License Valid Texas driver's license Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques Knowledge of plumbing codes Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material Ability to perform mathematical calculations Ability to diagnose and resolve problems Ability to use hand and power tools Experience One year experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience; clear driving record
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Maintenance and Repair Study building plans and work drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations. Inspect structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe. Locate and mark position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors. Cut openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings. Cut and thread pipe. Bend pipe to required angle by use of pipe-bending machine or by placing pipe over block and bending it by hand. Assemble and install valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass, and lead, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic. Join pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, and caulks joints. Fill pipe system with water or air and read pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking. Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs, water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners. Repair and maintain plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains. Weld holding fixtures to steel structural members. Safety Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and immediately report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor. Lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds without assistance, 30-55 pounds with assistance, and more than 55 pounds with appropriate assistance

Work outside and inside; on slippery or uneven surfaces; on ladders and scaffolding; around machinery and moving parts; exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, fumes, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration; frequent districtwide travel; occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours

Maintain emotional control under stress, work with frequent interruptions
