0 FTE Plumber in our Facilities and Operations Department beginning as soon as possible.
Essential Function:
Under the direction of the Director of Facilities the Plumber is responsible for performing construction, maintenance and repair functions associated with the district's plumbing and mechanical systems and components of the plumbing and mechanical systems. The basic work week of full-time employees will be eight (8) hours per day, forty (40) hours per week, first or second shift, subject to the right of the Department Head to schedule overtime work.
Responsibilities, Tasks & Duties:
Performs new construction work on commercial plumbing and mechanical systems. Checks and reviews systems after installation and makes necessary changes, adjustments and modifications to obtain desired results, using blueprints, sketches and manufacturer's specifications and manuals to obtain locations and details. Performs and documents preventative maintenance programs for all plumbing systems. Maintains all district pools and associated equipment. Performs required inspection and maintenance on cross connection control valves. Performs maintenance and repair on plumbing and mechanical systems including food service equipment. Checks operation after repairs. Performs installation, maintenance and repair on all plumbing systems including valves, toilets, sinks, garbage disposal units, water and sewer lines, gas lines, water heaters and pipe coverings. Requisitions, orders and procures various materials, parts, and equipment needed to accomplish necessary installation or repairs within District budget guidelines. Responds to emergency calls during and after normal working hours and coordinates the necessary action to provide prompt repair service. Provides information to the supervisor for resolving maintenance problems related to plumbing and mechanical piping systems. Must have the ability to handle materials and hand tools as well as electrically or pneumatically operated power equipment and tools
  • Proven experience as a plumber or completion of a plumbing apprenticeship program
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, tools, and equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
  • Proficient in basic math calculations for measurements and material quantities
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and provide effective solutions
  • Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting and work in various weather conditions
  • Valid driver's license for commercial driving purposes is a plus
  • Maintenance Person skills are beneficial for general maintenance tasks
