Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Pump Technician to join our team. This person will be required to sit for the G-Card exam and successfully pass. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience in industrial maintenance, with a focus on pump systems. This role involves working both independently and as part of a team to ensure the reliable operation of pumping equipment in various settings. The Pump Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining pumps, ensuring optimal performance and safety standards. Job Responsibilities Pump Maintenance and Repair G-Card Required Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on various types of fire pumps in accordance with manufacturer specifications and industry standards. Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals. Ensure all repairs are completed efficiently to minimize downtime for clients. Fire Pump Testing Conduct system testing and commissioning to verify proper operation and performance. Provide clients with clear instructions on pump operation and maintenance. Safety and Compliance Adhere to all OSHA, EPA, and company safety regulations while performing fieldwork and shop tasks. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots. Complete safety training and certifications as required (e.g., confined space entry, lockout/tagout). Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate records of service activities, including work orders, parts used, and time spent on tasks. Submit detailed service reports to supervisors within 24 hours of job completion. Report any equipment defects, safety hazards, or client concerns immediately. Inventory and Tool Management Keep track of tools, parts, and materials assigned to you, ensuring they are properly maintained and stored. Notify supervisors in advance when inventory levels are low or tools require repair/replacement. Performance Standards Quality of Work Complete all tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Achieve a customer satisfaction rating of at least 90% based on post-service feedback. Ensure rework due to errors is less than 5% of total jobs completed. Productivity Meet or exceed daily and weekly job completion targets as set by supervisors. Respond to emergency service calls within 2 hours of notification. Complete routine maintenance tasks within allocated timeframes. Team Collaboration Work cooperatively with other technicians, supervisors, and support staff to achieve project goals. Share knowledge and assist in training junior technicians when requested. Attend and actively participate in team meetings and training sessions. Professionalism Maintain a positive and respectful attitude when interacting with clients, coworkers, and supervisors. Represent Gesco professionally by maintaining a clean and organized appearance and work vehicle. Adhere to company policies on attendance, punctuality, and communication. Workplace Conduct Attendance and Punctuality Arrive at work or job sites on time as per the assigned schedule. Notify supervisors at least 2 hours in advance if unable to report to work due to illness or emergency. Limit unscheduled absences to no more than 3 per quarter, barring exceptional circumstances. Communication Respond to work-related calls, emails, or messages within 4 hours during business hours. Keep supervisors informed of job progress, delays, or issues in real-time. Use professional language in all communications, both internal and external. Ethics and Integrity Uphold Gesco values of honesty, accountability, and respect. Avoid conflicts of interest, such as performing unauthorized side work or misusing company resources. Report any unethical behavior or policy violations to supervisors or HR immediately.
