Utility Mechanic II - Lift Station Operation & Maint City of Corpus Christi - 3.5 Corpus Christi, TX Job Details Full-time $21.63 - $35.45 an hour 16 hours ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Commercial driving Full Job Description Overview The primary function of the Utility Mechanic II is to serve as the lead technician responsible for performing advanced mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance on a wide range of mechanical equipment and systems. This includes, but is not limited to, pumps, motors, generators, blowers, compressors, treatment plant process equipment, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, piping, valves, drivelines, conveyor systems, gearboxes, speed reducers, filtration systems, chemical feed systems, and dewatering equipment located throughout wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and other facilities within the CC Water Department. Responsibilities Lead and train junior technicians in routine and emergency troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of treatment plant and lift station mechanical equipment and systems, including pumps, motors, generators, compressors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, piping, valves, conveyor systems, and dewatering equipment Coordinate preventative maintenance activities on mechanical process equipment used in the water utility industry, including lubrication, alignment, filter replacement, belt adjustments, painting, rust removal, and corrosion control Perform light fabrication using power tools, welding equipment, and cutting torches, while operating lawn mowers, overhead cranes, crane trucks, and other heavy equipment Ensure all work is completed in compliance with safety standards related to rotating equipment, hazardous chemicals and gases, elevated work areas, confined space entry, and other hazardous conditions Maintain facilities and mechanical operations by inspecting, evaluating, and cleaning stations daily Participate in field testing, equipment startup and shutdown, verification of operating performance, land system troubleshooting Perform buildings and grounds maintenance in accordance with work schedules to ensure grounds, buildings, and equipment are maintained in a neat, clean, and safe operating condition to stay incompliance with TCEQ regulation Improve operations by generating work orders to address equipment discrepancies or conditions within lift stations and treatment plants Document time, material, and work descriptions in Maximo Perform duties as safety officer and lead worker when working with lessor experienced mechanics May be asked to perform additional duties. Position Type and Typical Hours of Work Non-Exempt - Full-Time - 40-hour work week

  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement

  • Four (4) years of experience Licenses and Certifications Required
  • Class B CDL Required within six (6) months of hire
