Sand Blaster / Material Loader 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars 465 Canaveral Groves Boulevard, Cocoa, FL 32926 Full-time Met-Con, Inc. 20 reviews Full-time Company Overview Met-Con, Inc., a leader in the structural steel fabrication industry, is seeking a motivated and experienced Sand Blaster / Material Loader to join our team. This role plays a critical part in ensuring quality, efficiency, and safety throughout blasting and loading operations. Position Summary The Sand Blaster / Material Loader is responsible for loading and unloading material in and out of the blast bay using overhead cranes or forklifts. This role also includes operating sandblasting equipment, maintaining equipment, and adhering to all safety requirements, including proper PPE and respiratory protection. The position also involves loading finished material onto tractor trailers using a telehandler-style forklift, ensuring all materials are safely secured, accurately accounted for, and prepared for safe transport. The Loader works closely with the Paint Department to move material from the blast area to paint.
Key Responsibilities Sandblasting:
Safely stage material in the blast area. Inspect and maintain blast equipment. Communicate and coordinate with Leads to ensure priorities are met.Loading:
Operate telehandler forklifts and overhead cranes. Use cribbing and dunnage properly. Stack material securely for roadway transport. Accurately account for all material per load.Quality and Compliance:
Ensure surface preparation meets required SSPC standards. Prepare entire surfaces and perform spot checks to ensure 100% completion.Safety:
Maintain a clean and organized work area. Always wear PPE. Operate forklifts at safe speeds and follow safety procedures. Always maintain situational awareness.Qualifications Experience:
Minimum of 2 years in structural steel blasting and/or loading operations.Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of AISC painting standards and quality control processes.Organizational Skills:
