Job Description:
JOB OBJECTIVES
To operate, manipulate, clean, inspect and maintain crane and lift mechanism. The employee must observe all safety procedures.JOB DIMENSIONS A.

- Members of the immediate crew, project management, manual and non-manual employees and other project field personnel.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES A.
Essential Job Duties Examples of key duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. The following duties are listed both as trade specific and shared responsibilities. 1. Must be punctual and maintain a dependable level of attendance in accordance to project work rules. 2. Adheres to all safety procedures. 3.Safe Operation:
Execute complex lifts involving loads exceeding 600 tons using lattice boom crawlers or heavy-duty mobile cranes. 4.Precision Maneuvering:
Perform intricate swings, crawls, and placements in tight industrial environments or challenging terrains. 5.Rigging Oversight:
Collaborate with the rigging foreman to ensure all slings, shackles, and spreader bars are rated and configured correctly for "super-heavy" lifts. 6.Equipment Maintenance:
Conduct rigorous daily inspections of the boom, hoist lines, and hydraulic systems; troubleshoot and report any mechanical deviations immediately. 7.Lift Plan Adherence:
Strictly follow engineered lift plans, including calculating load weights, boom angles, and radii to ensure the crane remains within its safe working load (SWL). 8.Communication:
Maintain constant, clear radio contact with signal persons and the ground crew. 9.Experience:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience operating cranes, with at least 2 years specifically focused on cranes in the 600-ton to 1,000-ton+ class. 10.Technical Knowledge:
Deep understanding of Load Moment Indicators (LMI), outrigger/ground pressure requirements, and counterweight configurations (including tray and wagon systems). 11.LMI & System Management:
Expert configuration of Load Moment Indicators (LMI) and Crane Control Systems ( LICCON or EPIC). You must be able to manually verify computer readings against physical load charts. Bechtel Level 3 - General. Non-Confidential Business Information. 12.Safety Mindset:
Unwavering commitment to "Stop Work Authority" if conditions become unsafe (e.g., wind speeds, ground stability). 13.Advanced Load Chart Literacy:
Ability to interpret multi-dimensional charts including deductions for auxiliary heads, blocks, rigging, and wire rope weights. 14.Deflection Management:
Understanding of boom "dip" or "spring" upon load release/pickup and the ability to compensate for radius changes in real-time. 15.Rigging Geometry:
Knowledge of how sling angles affect the tension on the crane's head sheaves and the resultant forces on the center of gravity (CoG). 16. Assembly/Disassembly (A/D): Lead the technical assembly of the boom, jib (luffing or fixed), and derrick attachments. This includes overseeing the pinning of boom sections and the reeving of high-fall blocks (up to 12+ parts of line).FUNCTIONAL JOB ANALYSIS A.
Equipment Used to Perform Job 1.Protective Equipment:
Gloves, safety shoes, hard-hat, goggles, ear plugs, and safety harness. Fireproof coveralls, rainwear and respiratory protection (as required). 2. Various long and short handled tools. B. Significant Worksite Measurements 1. Safety harness weighing up to 7 -10#, if on the upper works inspecting cables and drums. C. Critical Demands 1.Climbing:
vertical ladder, 20-25' increment, up to 150', (frequently). 2.Crouching and Reaching:
for up to 5 minutes on even, uneven, narrow and/or elevated surfaces, (occasionally). 3.Kneeling and reaching:
for up to 5 minutes on even surfaces, (occasionally). 4.Balancing:
on rough ground and narrow surfaces -- 6 inch, (continuously). 5.Overhead Work:
from various positions (squatting, standing, crouching); (occasionally). 6.Walking:
throughout the day on even and uneven surfaces up to 500', (continuously).MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS
