Rigger Boston, MA Job Details $27.62 - $30.32 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications Safety regulations Full Job Description Job Summary The Rigger is responsible for safely rigging, lifting, and moving equipment, machinery, and materials using appropriate rigging gear and techniques. This role supports shipyard operations by ensuring all lifting activities are performed efficiently and in compliance with safety standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Rig, lift, and move equipment, machinery, and materials using slings, chain falls, come-alongs, and other rigging gear. Plan, select, and position rigging equipment to complete lifts safely and efficiently. Read and interpret job specifications, blueprints, and work instructions. Exercise sound judgment in load handling, equipment placement, and safety procedures. Set up cranes and assist with lift operations. Use proper hand signals to communicate with crane operators. Identify and position pad eyes for installation and removal of equipment or structures. Interpret load charts, rigging charts, and equipment capacity tags. Operate industrial powered equipment, including forklifts and boom lifts. Provide technical assistance to supervisors and team members as needed. Maintain knowledge of rigging equipment such as block and tackle, chain falls, slings, jacks, rollers, and come-alongs. Perform other duties as assigned. Safety Requirements Comply with all company safety policies and procedures. Adhere to all applicable OSHA regulations and standards. Must be physically and medically qualified to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators if applicable. Qualifications Three (3) to five (5) years of rigging and/or shipyard experience preferred. Ability to safely operate forklifts and similar equipment (must be willing to obtain required hoisting license). Working knowledge of rigging practices, equipment, and safety standards. Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations Hoisting License preferred or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: Frequent standing, walking, sitting, and use of hands and arms. Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl, including on board vessels. Frequent use of both hands for climbing, handling tools, and operating machinery. Ability to respond to verbal and visual signals. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job: Exposure to wet or humid conditions. Work near moving mechanical parts and at elevated or precarious heights. Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and potentially hazardous chemicals. Work in extreme temperatures (hot and cold). Risk of electrical shock and vibration. Work in confined spaces as required. High noise levels requiring hearing protection.
