Job Title:
Painter Job Description Join an experienced construction team as a Painter supporting interior projects across New Haven County, including work on university and hospital facilities. You will perform high-quality interior painting using brush and roller techniques on commercial and residential construction projects, with an initial focus on a multi-month assignment and the potential for ongoing, long-term work based on performance. Responsibilities Perform interior painting on commercial construction projects, including walls, doors, and frames using brushes and rollers. Complete painting tasks on residential and industrial projects as needed. Carry out trim and finish work with attention to detail and a high-quality finish. Prepare surfaces for painting, including basic sanding, taping, and other prep work as required. Follow project specifications, color schemes, and finish requirements accurately. Work effectively as part of a field crew of 6-10 people, supporting team members to meet project deadlines. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area throughout the project. Use appropriate tools, equipment, and personal protective gear provided on site. Adhere to all safety guidelines and site rules, including those specific to university, hospital, and commercial environments. Demonstrate reliability by arriving on time and being prepared to work scheduled shifts, including occasional weekends and overtime. Take initiative and show willingness to assist with tasks beyond primary painting duties when needed to help the team succeed. Essential Skills At least 1 year of painting experience on commercial or residential construction projects. Proficiency using brushes and rollers for interior painting. Ability to perform trim and finish work to a professional standard. Experience working on construction sites, following safety protocols and site procedures. Strong work ethic with reliability and consistent attendance. Positive attitude and the ability to work as a cooperative team player. Willingness to take on additional tasks and responsibilities beyond core duties when required. Additional Skills & Qualifications OSHA 10 certification is highly preferred. Experience with industrial painting environments is a plus. Familiarity with basic surface preparation, including sanding, taping, and priming. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from supervisors and site leads. Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing clean, even finishes. Comfort working in active construction environments at universities, hospitals, and other commercial sites. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a field-based role working on active construction sites throughout New Haven County, including university and hospital projects as well as other commercial locations. Typical schedules run Monday through Friday, either 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with the possibility of Saturday or Sunday work depending on project needs and up to approximately 10 hours of overtime. You will work as part of a crew of 6-10 people, with support from a core group of highly experienced employees. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, with standard construction site conditions. Painters must provide their own painter's pants and work boots, while shirts, hard hats, and safety glasses are supplied. The company maintains a professional yet friendly atmosphere, with minimal turnover and a strong emphasis on teamwork and long-term employee relationships. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of North Haven, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
