Architectural Panel Installer Charlotte, NC 28218 $24.60 - $41.00 an hour - Full-time $24.60 - $41.00 an hour - Full-time Overview We're seeking a skilled Architectural Panel Installer to fabricate, install, and finish exterior and interior panel systems on commercial and high-end residential projects. The role combines hands-on installation, precise layout, and coordination with site teams to deliver weather-tight, visually consistent façades and feature walls. Responsibilities Read and interpret construction documents: architectural drawings, shop drawings, specs, RFIs, and submittals.
Perform site layout and preparation:
verify substrates, establish control lines, check plumb/level/square, and confirm anchorage points.
Install panel subframing systems:
clips, z-girts, hat channels, thermal breaks, and adjustable brackets per manufacturer tolerances. Set and fasten architectural panels (e.g., ACM/MCM, HPL, fiber cement, terracotta, phenolic, metal plate, stone veneer) to meet alignment, reveal, and joint specs.
Integrate weather barriers:
flashing, sealants, rainscreen components, membranes, fire-stopping, and insulation per details.
Execute field modifications:
scribing, cutting, routing, bending, and drilling using appropriate tools and jigs while maintaining finish quality.
Maintain quality control:
verify joint widths, panel plane, fastener patterns, and color consistency; document with photos and checklists.
Ensure safety compliance:
follow site safety plans, fall protection, rigging/hoisting protocols, and equipment inspections. Coordinate with GC, foreman, and other trades to sequence work, resolve clashes, and hit milestones.
Handle material logistics:
receive, stage, and protect panels; track inventory; report damage and variances.
Troubleshoot and repair:
address oil-canning, misalignment, damaged finishes, and water-intrusion issues. Complete punch lists and closeout documentation, including as-builts and warranty requirements. Train and mentor junior installers and laborers as needed. Qualifications 2-5+ years of experience installing architectural panel or façade systems, carpentry, or metal cladding; apprenticeship or trade school a plus. Proficiency with common systems and manufacturers (e.g., Alucobond, Trespa, Nichiha, Equitone, Swisspearl, Centria, Dri-Design, terracotta systems). Strong blueprint reading and basic layout math, including takeoffs and material calculations.
rainscreen, vapor/air barriers, thermal bridging, drainage/ventilation. Familiarity with sealants, flashing integration, and fastener types (rivets, concealed clips, structural adhesives).
Safety certifications preferred:
OSHA 10/30, boom/scissor lift, fall protection, rigging/signaling. Ability to lift 50-75 lbs, work at heights, on scaffolding and aerial lifts, and in varying weather conditions. Valid driver's license; reliable transportation to job sites.
