Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic team as a Fireproofing Technician and play a vital role in safeguarding structures through expert application of fireproofing materials. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work on diverse construction projects, ensuring safety standards are met with precision and efficiency. As a Fireproofing Technician, you will be at the forefront of construction safety, utilizing your skills to enhance building resilience against fire hazards. Responsibilities Prepare surfaces and apply fireproofing materials using hand tools, spray equipment, and other power tools to ensure proper coverage and adhesion. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to accurately execute fireproofing specifications. Perform surface preparation tasks such as cleaning, sanding, caulking, and applying primers to optimize fireproofing effectiveness. Collaborate with carpentry, masonry, roofing, HVAC, and other trades to coordinate installation processes seamlessly across the construction site. Conduct quality inspections during and after application to verify compliance with safety standards and project specifications. Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools, disposing of waste properly, and ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times. Experience Prior construction site experience with a focus on fireproofing or related trades such as plastering, stucco, or metal stud framing. Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings relevant to fireproofing applications. Hands-on experience with hand tools (e.g., trowels, brushes) and power tools (e.g., spray guns, grinders) used in construction finishing tasks. Familiarity with building systems including HVAC, roofing, concrete finishing, masonry, and framing enhances overall project understanding. Understanding the schematics and technical instructions related to fireproofing materials and methods. Ability to work safely at heights or in confined spaces while adhering to OSHA standards is essential.
