Job Description

Applicant must have working experience and be able to perform all tasks related to the Residential and light Industrial Building Trades Industry to include the following: blue print reading, use of construction materials, site preparation, frame, floor, wall and roof construction, concrete forms, interior and exterior trims, finish work, cabinet work, door and window construction and installation, plumbing application and installation, electrical wiring, painting and refinishing, working with concrete, brick and blocks, use of wall coverings, use of building, plumbing and electrical codes, and cost estimating. Adjunct (part-time), semester-based employment with compensation based on course load and institutional pay schedule. Associates Degree from a nationally, regionally or identified at the state level accredited institution of higher education required in related teaching field and must have five (5) years of recent paid work experience exclusive of teaching in the Building Trade career field OR a Bachelor's Degree with three (3) years of paid work experience in the Building Construction Field. Must know how to use mathematics associated with the building trades industry. Must know how to use hand and power tools, and precision measuring tools associated with the Building Construction. Must have some management and computer skills.. Must possess basic computer skills (Microsoft Word) and be able to use a calculator and Xerox machine. Must be able to evaluate situations and make sound judgments. Must be knowledgeable of OSHA and hazardous material requirements. Must be fair and impartial when working with students and staff. Applicant must be able to communicate in the English Language (Read, Write, Speak). Must be able to explain enrollment procedures programs/course content in a manner that potential students can understand. Represent the institution in a positive manner as indicated by dress, decorum, and attitude. Meet all regularly scheduled classes on time and for the full class period. Demonstrate effective classroom management providing maximum opportunity for student progress. Demonstrate organization of materials presented in the classroom. Ensure that the general and specific objectives defined in the syllabus are accomplished; utilizing varied techniques of instruction. Prepare and administer examinations that cover all materials taught and provide prompt feedback on exam results. Ensure proper management and utilization of all instructional equipment, resources, and materials. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student progress in compliance with college policies; submit certification rolls require by the Central Texas College Registrar office by submission due date. Participate in orientation meetings, staff development workshops, and faculty meetings relevant to assigned duties. Provide feedback to appropriate administrative staff for evaluation and revision of curriculum. Other duties as assigned by the site director or campus dean.
