Join GDIT as a Sheet-Metal Worker, for a career where your growth is just as important as the mission you support. The Sheet Metal Worker works within the Sheet Metal fabrication shop. Operating hand and CNC machinery to cut and form precision parts and assemblies.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Operation of CNC cutting machinery, i.e. Punch Press, Fiber Laser, Omax Water jet Deburring, drilling, and sanding of parts produced Loading/unloading material from machines and material racks Operation of Press Brake to form complex assemblies Interpretation of drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances of products Coordinating daily work with direct supervisor. Inspection of completed work for quality standards and GDIT conformance requirements. Perform preventative maintenance and upkeep to machine and workstation. Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Experience:
1+ years of prior Sheet Metal or relevant experience. Previous operation of Fiber laser,
Waterjet, Punch or Press Brake Education:
High School Diploma/GED Basic knowledge of shop machinery, hand and power tools. Basic reading, writing, and math skills. Ability to read blueprints. Ability to work within a small, motivated team. Knowledge of precision measuring instruments (i.e.: calipers, micrometers, gages, etc.). Ability to lift 50lbs. Ability to stand for an 8 hour shift minimum. Must be able to obtain forklift certification Must be a US Citizen Ability to obtain & maintain a Secret security clearance

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $21.25 - $28.75. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
