Job Description

We are a family-owned custom sheet metal fabrication shop with over 40 years of service to the Chicago area. We specialize in custom one-off fabrication, full-service welding, industrial ventilation/ductwork, and design-to-installation projects. We're looking for an experienced, independent fabricator/welder to join our team. About the Role As a key member of our shop, you will handle all aspects of custom projects from reading prints and setting up machines to welding and finishing the part — no high-volume production or running pre-set jobs. You should be comfortable working independently, solving problems on the fly, and owning complete custom fabrication projects (machine guards, pans, carts, tables, ductwork, exhaust systems, and more), plus field installation work. Key Responsibilities & Requirements Read and interpret blueprints independently and develop efficient fabrication methods Sheet metal fabrication (26 ga to 10 ga) in steel, galvanized, stainless steel, and aluminum Strong TIG welding experience (MIG & Stick a plus); weld 18 ga up to ¼" material Fabricate parts to tight tolerances (±1/32" when required) Experience setting up and operating common shop equipment including press brake set up and operation, shear, apron brake, roller, punch, cold saw, etc. Field installation of fabricated items (ductwork experience is a strong plus) Ability to drive a box truck Ability to occasionally push, pull, carry, or turn up to 65 lbs Read, write, and communicate effectively in English Current valid Driver's License, High School Diploma (or equivalent), and ability to pass a drug test
Ideal Candidate :
5+ years of hands-on experience (or welding/fabrication school + relevant experience) as a lead or independent fabricator in a custom job shop environment. Someone who can take a job from start to finish — setting up machines, fabricating, and welding — without needing someone else to prepare the equipment. Reliable, self-motivated, and proud of quality custom work. Pay:
$25.00 - $35.00 per hour
