Position Overview:

The Precision Sheet Metal Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and/or finishing sheet metal components and assemblies used in industrial and commercial products. This position focuses on general fabrication work within a precision manufacturing environment, producing custom and production parts to engineering drawings, quality standards, and production schedules. Key Responsibilities Fabricate sheet metal parts and assemblies using shop equipment hand tools and power tools. Set up and operate fabrication machinery such as press brakes, shears, punches, rollers, saws, and forming equipment (based on skill level) Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, work orders, and specifications Measure, cut, bend, punch, and form various metals including steel, aluminum, and stainless steel Perform mechanical assembly using fasteners, rivets, hardware, and fittings Weld, spot weld, or tack components together as required (based on skill level and certifications) Deburr, grind, and finish parts to meet quality and cosmetic requirements Inspect parts and assemblies for accuracy, tolerance, and workmanship Identify and correct fabrication issues or dimensional discrepancies Maintain tools, machines, and work area in a safe and organized condition Follow all safety guidelines, quality procedures, and production processes Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and quality personnel to meet manufacturing goals Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED 2+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or manufacturing (experience level may be adjusted) Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Strong measuring and layout skills; ability to work to tight tolerances Experience using shop equipment and hand tools safely and effectively Understanding of metal properties and fabrication processes Ability to lift, move, and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds Preferred Qualifications Completion of a trade school program or apprenticeship in sheet metal or fabrication Welding experience or certifications (MIG, TIG, or resistance welding) Experience in low- to mid-volume production or custom fabrication environments Familiarity with CNC punch or press brake operations Lean manufacturing or quality system experience Physical Requirements Prolonged standing, bending, reaching, and manual dexterity Ability to lift, carry, and position sheet metal components Ability to work safely around machinery and sharp materials Work Environment Exposure to noise, vibration, metal edges, oils, and industrial equipment Use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
