Shift Metal Fabricator Department:
Fabrication Shop Reports To:
Welding Shop Supervisor Position Summary The Metal Fabricator is responsible for the precision preparation and forming of components to support the welding and production teams. This role requires a high degree of technical skill in operating industrial machinery to transform raw steel into accurately fabricated parts according to strict engineering specifications.Shift Hours:
Monday - Thursday, 5:30 AM - 4:30PM Pay:
$20-25/hr.Primary Duties and Responsibilities Precision Fabrication:
Operate a variety of industrial equipment, including plate rolls, press brakes, ironworkers, and shears, to fabricate parts with high accuracy.Quality Assurance:
Conduct rigorous inspections of finished parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications and quality standards.Material Logistics:
Monitor raw steel inventory levels and utilize forklifts and overhead cranes to safely move materials and heavy assemblies throughout the shop.Equipment Stewardship:
Perform routine maintenance and safety inspections on fabrication machinery to ensure optimal operating condition.Operational Documentation:
Maintain precise records of fabrication processes, material usage, and production outputs.Safety & Organization:
Uphold a culture of safety by strictly following all PPE and machinery protocols while maintaining a lean, organized workspace.Technical Requirements Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in sheet steel forming and industrial fabrication.Technical Literacy:
Strong ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.Mathematical Proficiency:
Advanced math skills for calculating angles, bend allowances, and material tolerances.Tool Expertise:
Mastery of precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers) and various shop tools (drills, presses, saws).Production Knowledge:
Familiarity with welding fixtures and the ability to maintain consistent parameters during high-volume production runs.Physical & Professional Skills Physical Capability:
Ability to perform manual labor in an industrial environment, including the ability to lift and maneuver up to 75 lbs.Efficiency:
Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting tight production deadlines.Detail-Oriented:
A "right-the-first-time" mentality regarding quality control and measurements.Adaptability:
