Job Description

The Sheet Metal Fabrication Mechanic oversees the daily operations of the sheet metal laser and/or press brake within the fabrication department in a manufacturing plant. This role involves running the machine to production schedules, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards, and using workflows to meet project deadlines. The mechanic collaborates with other sheet metal employees, maintains equipment, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
Role and Responsibilities:
Responsible for ensuring the safe, on-time, on-scope, and on-budget installation and startup of equipment supporting complex new manufacturing capabilities within this subgroup of NHF plant operations. Ensure the correct setup and calibration of sheet metal fabrication equipment, including CNC machines, press brakes, shears, and punches. Verify use of accurate blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files for precise fabrication. Work according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for fabrication tasks to ensure consistency and efficiency. Collaborate with other department employees to optimize workflows and reduce bottlenecks within the department. Fabricate custom or prototype sheet metal projects in coordination with engineering, supervisory, and R&D teams. Maintain equipment to maximize uptime and support continuous production. Work according to strict adherence of product quality standards, conducting inspections throughout the production process. Manage inventory of raw materials, tools, and equipment to prevent downtime and minimize waste.
Skills and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of sheet metal materials and fabrication methods Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files. Proficient with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel, ERP systems).
Physical Requirements:
This role operates in a manufacturing plant setting with exposure to loud machinery, heavy equipment, and temperature variations. Physical requirements include standing, walking, and occasionally lifting materials up to 100 lbs.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
