SOLAR INSTALL MANAGER
RIVERSIDE, CA Compensation:
$120,000•$140,000 per year + Performance Bonus NextGen Energy Careers is partnering with an established multi-state solar energy organization to identify an experienced Solar Install Manager to join its Riverside area operations leadership team. This is an opportunity for a proven solar operations professional to lead installation teams, drive production efficiency, maintain quality and safety standards, and help scale residential solar operations in a fast-growing environment.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Solar Install Manager is responsible for overseeing all logistics required to complete daily residential solar PV installations. This role leads installation crews, field technicians, warehouse personnel, and operational processes to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and at a high level of quality. The ideal candidate is an experienced solar leader who understands installation operations, scheduling, team development, customer experience, and field execution.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the installation department and provide technical support related to solar PV systems, Main Panel Upgrades (MPUs), and battery storage systems. Manage installation crews, field personnel, warehouse operations, and installation scheduling. Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and development of installation personnel and licensed electricians. Coordinate installation schedules, service calls, inspections, PTO, MPUs, and project logistics. Ensure crews have the equipment, materials, and resources needed to complete installations successfully. Develop and implement operational best practices, procedures, and process improvements. Maintain compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations. Participate in employee performance reviews, coaching, goal setting, and team development initiatives. Deliver a high level of customer service when interacting with homeowners, partners, and internal teams. Ensure employee documentation, certifications, and required records are properly maintained. Review and approve employee timecards and labor reporting. Monitor fleet utilization, equipment inventory, warehouse materials, and operational resources. Support quality control efforts by reviewing projects and identifying issues before they impact installation timelines or customer satisfaction. Evaluate subcontractor performance, quality, reliability, and operational effectiveness. Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
4+ years of solar industry experience. 2+ years of solar installation management experience. Proven experience managing installation operations and field teams. Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Working knowledge of residential solar PV systems, MPUs, battery storage systems, permitting, inspections, and utility PTO processes. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong customer service mindset and ability to build positive working relationships. Self-motivated, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Ability to work both strategically and hands-on when needed. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Ability to work Monday through Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends as business needs require.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to efficiently schedule and coordinate installation operations. Ability to review project plans and ensure installations are completed according to design specifications. Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, subcontractors, and leadership teams. Ability to evaluate subcontractor proposals for quality, cost, and reliability. Ability to motivate, develop, and manage installation personnel. Ability to respond to operational issues outside of normal business hours when necessary. Proficient reading and writing skills in English. Ability to pass pre-employment background screening and drug testing requirements.

This is a full-time exempt W-2 leadership position. Work schedules may vary based on operational needs and may occasionally require evening, weekend, or holiday support. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.
