Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and reliable Certified Solar & Battery Installation Technician / Electrician to join our growing team. This position is ideal for someone with proven field experience installing residential solar PV systems, Tesla Powerwall systems, battery backup systems, and related electrical equipment. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working for a professional solar installation company and understands how to install clean, code-compliant, high-quality systems in residential environments. This role requires strong knowledge of electrical systems, construction practices, the National Electrical Code (NEC) , Florida Building Code (FBC) , safety procedures, and solar/battery installation best practices. Coastal Energy is a Florida-based licensed roofing and electrical contractor. We primarily install Tesla Powerwall, solar panels, Tesla Solar Roof, battery backup systems, and related electrical upgrades . We are looking for someone who takes pride in workmanship, understands the importance of aesthetics, and can help deliver a premium installation experience for our customers. Duties Install residential solar PV systems, Tesla Powerwall systems, battery backup systems, inverters, disconnects, subpanels, critical load panels, and related electrical equipment. Perform electrical wiring, conduit work, terminations, labeling, equipment mounting, and system interconnections. Read and interpret electrical plans, PV layouts, single-line diagrams, battery schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings. Assist with installation of solar panels, racking, flashing, roof attachments, wire management, and balance-of-system components. Ensure all work complies with the NEC, Florida Building Code, manufacturer specifications, utility requirements, and local AHJ standards. Support Tesla Powerwall and battery system installations, including backup gateway, load-side connections, whole-home backup, and critical-load panel configurations. Conduct site assessments to evaluate roof conditions, electrical service equipment, panel capacity, structural considerations, and installation requirements. Troubleshoot solar, inverter, battery, monitoring, and electrical system issues. Use hand tools, power tools, ladders, meters, and electrical testing equipment safely and professionally. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site at all times. Follow OSHA, company safety policies, fall protection requirements, and electrical safety procedures. Work closely with project managers, electricians, roofers, and installation crews to complete projects efficiently and correctly. Communicate professionally with customers, inspectors, utility representatives, and team members when needed. Take progress photos, document completed work, and report field conditions accurately. Represent Coastal Energy with professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail. Experience Proven experience installing residential solar PV systems and/or battery storage systems. Previous employment with a solar installation company or electrical contractor. Ability to provide professional references and verifiable work history. Experience reading PV and ESS plans, blueprints, single-line diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer installation manuals. Familiarity with Tesla Powerwall, solar inverters, rapid shutdown equipment, disconnects, load centers, and electrical service equipment. Knowledge of NEC requirements related to solar PV, energy storage systems, grounding, bonding, overcurrent protection, disconnects, labeling, and conductor sizing. Experience using hand tools, power tools, electrical meters, and construction equipment. Understanding of high-voltage electrical safety and residential electrical systems. Ability to work on roofs, ladders, attics, garages, exterior walls, and electrical service areas. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work in Florida weather conditions and physically demanding environments. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
