Job Description

Job Title:
Solar Service Technician Job Summary The Solar Service Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. This role ensures optimal system performance, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction through timely service and technical expertise. Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair solar PV systems, including panels, inverters, wiring, and monitoring systems
  • Diagnose system issues using testing equipment and monitoring software
  • Point of contact for customers with questions/issues with their battery o With either HNu Energy proprietary HIVE battery or other battery manufactures
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure system efficiency
  • Respond to service calls and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults
  • Replace or repair defective components such as modules, inverters, and connectors
  • Ensure all work complies with local codes, safety standards, and company policies
  • Document service activities, findings, and completed work
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding system performance and repairs
  • Coordinate with installation teams, engineers, and support staff when needed
  • Work with office staff to create and implement a new service ticket process Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification preferred)
  • Experience with solar PV systems or electrical systems
  • Basic understanding of electrical theory and wiring
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and schematics
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification such as NABCEP (North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners)
  • Previous field service or maintenance experience
  • OSHA safety training
  • Experience with monitoring platforms and diagnostic tools Skills & Competencies
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Patience to be on long calls with product manufactures
  • Attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Physical ability to work outdoors, at heights, and in varying weather conditions Working Conditions
  • Outdoor work in various weather conditions
  • Frequent climbing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and rooftop work
