Temporary Electrical Installation Technician

Job Overview:

Solar Smart Living is hiring motivated and reliable Temporary Solar Installers / Electrical Apprentices to support our growing solar panel and battery backup system installation projects. This is an excellent hands-on opportunity to gain experience in the renewable energy industry, working with both solar PV systems and modern battery storage solutions. You'll work alongside our experienced crew installing complete solar + battery energy systems for residential and commercial customers in the El Paso and Las Cruces areas. Prior experience is helpful but not required — we provide on-the-job training and value a strong work ethic and safety focus.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the installation of rooftop and ground-mount solar photovoltaic (PV) systems Help install and integrate battery backup systems (including racking, wiring, and inverter connections) Perform basic electrical tasks under the direct supervision of licensed professionals Assist with solar panel mounting, racking, wiring, and system integration Load/unload materials, tools, and equipment safely Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites at all times Follow all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety protocols Learn proper techniques for solar array assembly, battery storage setup, and electrical connections Participate in system testing, commissioning, and quality checks Travel daily to job sites in the greater El Paso / Las Cruces area (company transportation often provided for crews)

Requirements:

Ability to work outdoors in Southwest conditions (heat, sun, wind, occasional cold) Comfortable working at heights on ladders and rooftops Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs repeatedly and performing manual labor Reliable transportation to our yard in Santa Teresa, NM Strong work ethic, punctuality, positive attitude, and willingness to learn Valid driver's license and clean driving record (preferred) Previous construction, roofing, electrical, or solar experience is a plus but not required

Pay:

$12.00 - $15.00 per hour
