Technical Proficiency Full Job Description Position Summary:
The Solar Technician I will be the junior field service technician for CSS' operations and maintenance of solar facilities. The Solar Technician I is responsible for supporting senior field staff in the safe and timely completion of all service obligations, learning CSS company protocols, and representing CSS in the field.
Essential Functions:
Prioritize safety daily and actively participates in site safety meetings Assist with troubleshooting and repairing utility scale solar generators Assist with commissioning, quality assurance inspection, or preventative maintenance work as needed Provide timely Field Service Reports back to Operations staff for delivery to clients Ensure a premium level of customer service Perform vegetative maintenance as required Participate in weekend and holiday on-call schedule Occasional overtime work and overnight travel required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficiency reading technical specification documents, site plans, & electrical schematics Familiarity with tools, terminologies, and processes associated with electrical and mechanical trade work Basic understanding of the principles of electrical theory and photovoltaic power generation General computer, network, and technology proficiency Understanding & experience in the operation and concepts relating to electrical and mechanical trade work Clear verbal and written communication skills Team oriented attitude Values staff development and organizational excellence
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record to operate a company vehicle
Preferred Qualifications:
First-Aid/CPR/AED
NFPA 70E OSHA 10
Field experience in residential, commercial or utility scale solar
PV Physical Demands:
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds frequently Ability to work at high heights with the use of a safety harness
Work Environment:
~90% of time spent in-field at utility scale solar facilities Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold Exposure to native plants and, occasionally, animals Exposure to electrical hazards The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this job.
