About Puget Sound Solar:
PSS was established in in 2001 when Jeremy Smithson installed the first net metered solar (photovoltaic) system in Seattle. Since then, he and his wife Pam have been at the forefront of the industry through their political advocacy and their company. PSS works in the commercial, residential and electric vehicle sectors and sets the standard for integrity and quality of work. PSS has a collaborative culture where employees are heard and respected.
Position Description:
The Solar Installer participates in all aspects of photovoltaic system installation on residential PV systems. Our installation crews consist of three person crews comprised of two mechanical installers and an 02 residential electrician. Mechanical installers work on the roof, assisting with all aspects of the solar racking, panel installation and make electrical connections to solar modules. Major areas of responsibility include but are not limited to: Install rooftop solar electric systems from start to finish Assist electricians and other crew members as necessary Maintain vehicle and warehouse organization
Hours:
Mon-Thurs 7am - 5pm.
Compensation:
  • $24/hr+ DOE, with hazard pay for steeper roofs

Job:
Install solar electric systems from start to finish Follow plans, designs and equipment specifications to layout PV racking on rooftops or other surfaces Safely and efficiently move materials from ground level to rooftop installation site Adhere to project designs, electrical line diagrams and equipment specifications to install high-quality PV systems and ensure code compliance Adhere to industry fall protection standards and company safety programs Commission PV systems and troubleshoot as necessary Complete PV work orders and required paperwork as necessary Work under the supervision of onsite electricians, project managers and crew leads Maintain vehicle and warehouse organization Load and unload vehicles with project material Manage organized stock of supplies on company vehicles Maintain warehouse material stock and organize as necessary Assist electricians and other crew members as necessary Maintain valid electrical trainee card Assist all electricians with tasks associated with PV installation and electrical wiring may include pulling wire, wiring junction boxes, PV rooftop wiring, etc. Job Requirements Construction experience (direct PV experience preferred) Experience working with tools including power tools and hand tools Demonstrated ability to work alone and with others as part of a team Ability to work on rooftops, ladders, attics, crawlspaces and confined spaces safely Demonstrated ability to pick up and carry heavy objects Highly motivated, self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills Valid WA state drivers license and clean driving record General knowledge of home construction, building materials, workplace safety, fall protection, OSHA safety standards, etc. a plus Desire to learn and grow in a rapidly developing industry
