Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a Tile Setter specializing in historic renovation projects! In this role, you will bring craftsmanship, precision, and passion to restore and enhance historic buildings through expert tile installation. Your skills will help preserve architectural integrity while delivering beautiful, durable finishes that stand the test of time. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced tile setters who thrive on challenging projects and take pride in their work's lasting impact. Duties Measure, cut, and install various types of tiles including ceramic, porcelain, stone, and glass to meet project specifications. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and detailed restoration plans to ensure accurate tile placement. Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and applying appropriate underlayments or waterproofing membranes for optimal adhesion. Use hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently to cut, shape, and install tiles with precision. Perform water damage restoration tasks related to tile work, ensuring proper sealing and caulking around fixtures and edges. Collaborate with carpenters, painters, and other tradespeople to coordinate installation of fixtures, trim carpentry, cabinetry, and flooring components. Maintain a clean work environment by properly caring for floor surfaces during installation and performing floor care or buffing as needed. Read schematics and construction drawings accurately to execute remodeling or restoration projects aligned with historic preservation standards. Assist with estimating project costs related to tile installation and related construction activities. Ensure all work complies with safety standards, building codes, and industry best practices. Experience Proven experience as a tile setter with a focus on historic or restoration projects preferred. Strong knowledge of construction estimating, blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and building codes. Hands-on experience with flooring installation, caulking, fixture installation, and water damage restoration techniques. Skilled in using hand tools such as trowels, chisels, levels, saws; as well as power tools like drills and wet saws. Background in carpentry or handyman work is advantageous; familiarity with concrete finishing or remodeling projects is a plus. Knowledge of the restoration industry standards combined with experience working on historic buildings highly desirable. Ability to read technical drawings accurately and follow detailed instructions for complex renovation tasks. Join us in revitalizing historic structures through expert craftsmanship!
