Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic team at Honest Abe Home Services as a Chimney Technician, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality chimney and masonry services. Starting at competitive pay rates, this position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in construction and restoration while working on diverse projects. You'll be responsible for inspecting, cleaning, repairing, and restoring chimneys and related structures, contributing to the safety and comfort of our clients' homes and businesses. Responsibilities Perform chimney inspections to identify damage or blockages using schematics and blueprint reading skills. Clean chimneys thoroughly using hand tools and power tools to remove soot, creosote buildup, and debris. Repair or replace chimney components such as flues, liners, caps, crowns, and brickwork with masonry techniques including rebar installation and concrete finishing. Conduct restoration work on damaged masonry structures utilizing plastering, stucco application, tile laying, and trim carpentry skills. Operate heavy equipment safely for demolition or structural repairs when necessary. Measure project requirements accurately for construction estimating purposes; prepare detailed reports for clients. Follow safety protocols on construction sites including caulking, roofing repairs, metal stud framing, framing carpentry, and scaffolding setup. Experience Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, heavy equipment operation, and safety procedures in construction environments. Knowledge of various construction trades such as carpentry (including trim carpentry), roofing, metal stud framing, welding, and tile laying highly desirable. Ability to work independently or as part of a team in diverse weather conditions while maintaining high safety standards. Requirements & Qualifications Physical Demands:
Must be comfortable working at heights, climbing tall ladders, walking on roofs, and lifting up to 50-70 lbs.
License:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record to operate company vehicles.
Skills:
Basic knowledge of masonry, carpentry, or roofing is a significant advantage.
Certifications:
CSIA Certified Chimney Sweep (CCS) or National Fireplace Institute (NFI) certifications are highly preferred
Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
