Job Description

Wage Based on Experience Must have own tools & transportation A tile setter installs ceramic, stone, or other hard tiles on surfaces like floors, walls, and countertops. Key duties include preparing surfaces, measuring and cutting tiles, applying mortar or adhesive, setting tiles in place, and applying grout and sealant to finish the job. A strong work ethic, physical stamina, and good hand-eye coordination are essential for this role.
Key responsibilities Site preparation:
Remove old materials, clean and level the surface, and lay the necessary base (like mortar or plywood).
Measurement and cutting:
Measure the area to be tiled, plan the layout based on blueprints or designs, and cut tiles to fit around obstacles and into corners.
Tile installation:
Apply mortar or adhesive to the surface and the back of the tiles. Place the tiles, pressing or tapping them into place to ensure they are level and evenly spaced.
Grouting and finishing:
After the tiles are set and the adhesive is dry, spread grout between the tiles. Wipe away excess grout to create a clean finish and apply sealant for protection.
Customer interaction:
May involve meeting with clients to discuss their needs and assist in selecting materials.
Maintenance:
Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles when necessary. Skills and qualifications Ability to read and interpret blueprints and design plans Proficiency with hand and power tools, including tile cutters, saws, and trowels Physical strength and stamina for tasks like heavy lifting, bending, and kneeling for long periods Attention to detail and precision in measuring, cutting, and setting tiles Knowledge of different types of tiles, their properties, and installation methods Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Qualifications:
Tile setting: 2 years (Preferred) Must be familiar with tools and equipment necessary for tile installation. Must have a minimum OSHA-10 Construction or willing to obtain Experience with tile grouting and finishing
