Job Summary:
What is Weatherization? Weatherization reduces energy costs for low-income households by increasing the energy efficiency of their homes, while ensuring health and safety. Are you looking for an opportunity to work in an exciting career field that provides essential services to seniors and those in need? If so, this is the job for you!
THIS IS A NEW POSITION.
Entry level begins at $18.15/hr; salary based upon experience. The Weatherization Technician conducts an assessment, or "energy audit" analysis to address health and safety concerns and to determine energy conservation measures to increase the energy efficiency of residential properties for low-income customers. This position is under the direct supervision of the Weatherization Coordinator. Job Responsibilities Performs weatherization related measures which may include insulation, caulking, weather stripping and air sealing. Performs required testing throughout the period work is being performed on the dwelling. Participates in all required trainings and meet requirements including a satisfactory test score. Must be able to climb and work at least six (6) feet above the floor on ladders and scaffolding. Ensures measures being applied are effective, and protects the health and safety of the customer utilizing the Blower door and Combustion testing.
Job Requirements Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or GED. One year of specialized training in experience in home maintenance and construction work or carpentry and the use of carpentry materials and equipment; physically fit to lift up to 100 lbs. Must be a US citizen; have a Permanent Resident Card, or an alien Registration Receipt Card (Form I-551) Must have and maintain a clean driving record (NOT
TO EXCEED 6 PTS
) Must have and maintain a criminal history absent of convictions for violent crimes or for any crime against children. The mission of the Middle Georgia Community Action Agency, Inc., in collaboration with public and private partners, is to provide social services that address the needs of disadvantaged individuals.
