Job Description

Pay Rate:
$15.00 an hour
Who We Are:
Tri-County Community Action Agency, Inc. (TCCAA) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated for over 50 years to making a positive difference in the lives of those experiencing hardships. The agency consists of multiple programs that are created to empower people in Halifax, Charlotte and Mecklenburg Counties of Southside Virginia. Through collaborative efforts, engaged staff and partnerships, Tri-County is able to further our mission to eliminate the violence of poverty through advocacy, empowerment and self-sufficiency.
What We Are Looking For:
Installation of Weatherization measures. Apply Weatherization Technologies to housing units; use weatherization diagnostic tools, and collect data for energy audits. Use lead-safe weatherization practices.
What You Will Do:
Set up and correctly use blower door unit to apply in filtration measures. Measure and collect data for computer audits of housing units - provide data and information to manager/energy auditors/data specialist. Make accurate measurements for repair and installation. Install windows, doors, attic, wall & floor insulation and make minor repairs. Stop infiltration of air; caulking, weather-stripping. etc. Follow energy audits recommendations for housing units. Collect tools at end of day/work and clean work area of any used or un-needed materials. Share in work being accomplished. Record diagnostic information. Keep accurate records of travel. time. Keep accurate records of purchase orders issued for each job. Follow procedures established for material purchases. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
What We Are Seeking:
High school diploma or GED. Special training or work experience such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC and carpentry experience will be considered. Must demonstrate ability to follow instructions, to use carpentry tools requiring measurements, to install Weatherization Technologies, and to become efficient with diagnostic tools such as the blower door and combustion analyzers, and to work as a team member. Must be able to use a computer and enter diagnostic data. Must be able to communicate with low-income residents. Must have a valid driver's license; must pass criminal reference check. Must have or be willing to acquire BPI certifications and other certifications required by the Program.
