Area Maintenance Manager Job Description The Area Maintenance Manager leads a high-performing maintenance team to ensure a safe, efficient, and reliable operation within a warehouse and distribution environment. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on problem-solving, overseeing preventative maintenance programs, supporting automation systems, and responding swiftly to operational issues. The Area Maintenance Manager mentors service technicians and automation engineers, drives adherence to safety protocols, and collaborates closely with operations and external partners to deliver operational excellence. Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and develop a team of service technicians and automation engineers, fostering professional growth, accountability, and high performance. Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, procedures, and standards during all maintenance activities across the site. Design, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive preventative maintenance programs to enhance equipment reliability and operational efficiency. Coordinate and manage external contractors, ensuring they deliver high-quality services that meet safety, performance, and compliance standards. Monitor Material Handling Equipment (MHE) performance metrics and partner with relevant teams to diagnose issues, implement corrective actions, and optimize system performance. Oversee daily maintenance operations, balancing proactive planning with real-time troubleshooting and problem resolution. Support and guide technicians in electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical troubleshooting to minimize downtime. Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to plan, schedule, track, and document maintenance activities and asset performance. Collaborate with operations and other cross-functional teams to align maintenance priorities with production and business needs. Ensure maintenance documentation, reports, and records are accurate, complete, and maintained in accordance with internal standards. Promote a positive, supportive work culture that emphasizes safety, continuous improvement, and teamwork. Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support 24/7 operational needs. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Reliability Engineering, or 2+ years of RME (BB/3P) full-time experience in a similar environment. 4+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in a warehouse, distribution, or manufacturing setting. 2+ years of direct leadership or supervisory experience managing maintenance teams or technical staff. 2+ years of experience using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage maintenance activities. 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products and applications, including creating and maintaining reports and documentation. Strong electrical troubleshooting skills, including experience with industrial electrical systems. Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics in an industrial environment. Demonstrated expertise in preventative maintenance practices and maintenance management. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead teams and collaborate with cross-functional partners. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience supervising or leading maintenance technicians and automation engineers in a fast-paced environment. Background in maintenance management within warehouse, distribution, or automated material handling operations. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and manage external contractors and service providers. Comfort working with and interpreting MHE performance metrics and operational data. Proven ability to balance long-term preventative maintenance planning with immediate operational needs and emergency response. Work Environment The role is based in a warehouse and distribution environment that operates on a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The shift for this position typically runs from approximately 7:30 p.m.-4:30 a.m. or 8:30 p.m.-5:30 a.m., supporting overnight operations. You will work around Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and other industrial systems, using tools and technology such as a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Microsoft Office applications to manage and document maintenance activities. The environment emphasizes safety and compliance, and the organization provides lightweight fire-resistant daily wear and composite toe safety shoes as part of the required attire to ensure your safety on the floor. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Shippensburg, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $120000.00/yr. competitive compensation packages including comprehensive healthcare benefits starting on Day 1, matching 401(k) program, and up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave.
