POSITION SUMMARY
The Charge Nurse is responsible for directing the treatment and care of our surgical patients. In the absence of the Director of Nursing, the Charge Nurse fulfills their supervisory responsibilities. As a registered nurse, they record patient symptoms, administer medications, and assist with patient rehabilitation. The registered nurse also educates patients and family members about medical conditions and provides emotional support. As a registered nurse, they work within the context of the surgical team to provide care to individuals before, during and after a surgical procedure.WHAT WE OFFER

Ensures effective hiring, training and supervision of staff, and encourages optimal performance. Proactively develops positive employee relations programs. Promotes teamwork, mutual respect and effective communication. Oversees staff schedules to assure they meet patient needs and regulatory and budgetary standards. Evaluates the work performance of all personnel in the ASC, assists in determination of wage increases, and implements discipline according to policy. Oversees and supervises development and delivery of training, certification, and education programs to equip staff with sufficient knowledge and skills to provide quality care. Assist the Director of Nursing and ASC Coordinator in preparing staff for inspection surveys, instructing staff on matters of conduct and disclosure, being interviewed by inspectors, immediate corrections of problems noted by surveyors, etc. Reviews and reinforces important standards previously cited. Provide direct patient care to individuals in the pre-surgical, operative and recovery periods; collaborates with medical staff and other departments daily to promote coordination of patient care. Assure quality of care by adhering to compliance standards; following ASC philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations. Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients, friends, and families. Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, calling for assistance from health care support personnel. Protect patients and staff by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations. Maintain compliance with the organization's confidentiality policy in accordance to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Monitor ASC processes to ensure compliance with the organization's policies and with the guidelines set by relevant regulatory agenciesEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
: BS/BSN degree is required. Registered Nurse with current license to practice as a professional nurse in the State of Indiana Current certification in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support is required. Minimum of one-year related work experience in surgical services is preferred.COMPETENCIES

Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform each activity.
