Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful difference in students' daily lives by supporting inclusive education as a full-time Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant school setting. This rewarding contract opportunity is designed for passionate professionals dedicated to facilitating communication and empowering students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language and interpreting in an academic environment
  • Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) in a school-based setting preferred
  • Ability to accurately interpret for students, staff, and classroom activities
  • Collaborative approach and strong interpersonal skills
  • Compliance with state and national certification requirements
  • Commitment to fostering an accessible and positive learning environment
Responsibilities:
  • Provide real-time sign language interpretation for students during classroom lessons, extracurricular activities, and school events
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education personnel, and administrators to support student goals
  • Adjust interpreting style to fit individual student needs and grade levels
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity at all times
  • Help create an inclusive space that encourages all students to participate fully in school life
