Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students by delivering Sign Language Interpreter services in a vibrant educational setting near Lynn, MA. This full-time position begins ASAP and covers both an Extended School Year (ESY) session for five weeks as well as continued service throughout the upcoming academic year. You'll play an integral role in a collaborative team, partnering closely with Teachers of the Deaf (TOD) and leveraging tools such as FM systems and cochlear implants to enhance student access and achievement.
Key Qualifications:
Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with proven experience as a Sign Language Interpreter in school settings Certification as an Educational Interpreter or equivalency preferred Understanding of working with students who use FM systems and cochlear implants Experience collaborating closely with Teachers of the Deaf and special education staff Strong communication skills and ability to adapt interpreting to meet individual student needs Current background check or eligibility for clearance required
Responsibilities:
Provide direct interpreting services for students during instructional and school-related activities Facilitate communication among students, peers, and staff using sign language Support instructional access for students with hearing differences, collaborating with TODs and other specialists Assist with the use, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance of assistive technology, including FM systems and cochlear devices Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards in all educational contexts
