Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding role providing Sign Language Interpreter support for Kindergarten students as they embark on their journey learning American Sign Language. Based near Waukesha, WI, this contract opportunity is designed for compassionate professionals dedicated to supporting young learners in their academic and linguistic growth. The position is scheduled for half-days each school day throughout the 2026-2027 academic year, running from August to June, with possibilities for renewal. In this position, you'll work directly with foundational-level students just beginning their ASL education. With no complex sign requirements, you'll have the chance to focus on fostering early communication skills and supporting inclusive classroom experiences.
Qualifications & Experience:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Relevant credentials or certification as a Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) Experience working in educational settings, preferably with early elementary or kindergarten-aged children Patient, clear communicator with a collaborative mindset Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction and peer interactions for ASL learners Aid in the acquisition of foundational sign language skills Support teachers and staff in facilitating accessible learning and participation Adapt communication to meet each student's individual needs Contribute to a positive, nurturing educational setting
