Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Make a meaningful impact by supporting students' access to education as a Sign Language Interpreter in a dedicated school environment. This onsite, contract opportunity spans the 2026-2027 academic year, where you'll become an essential communication partner, helping bridge language between Deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their school community. Two full-time positions are available, averaging 35 hours per week, with assignments tailored to your strengths and discussed in detail during the interview process.
Key Qualifications:
Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter with an EIPA score of 3.5 or higher Experience interpreting in educational settings preferred Strong command of American Sign Language (ASL) and deaf culture Flexibility and adaptability to meet students' varying needs Professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills
Primary Responsibilities:
Interpret classroom instruction, school events, and extracurricular activities for students, staff, and parents Collaborate closely with teachers, special educators, and support staff to ensure an inclusive learning environment Assist in modifying and supplementing communication strategies based on students' individual needs Provide clear, accurate interpretation while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries Support students by fostering their independence and self-advocacy This is an in-person role exclusively—no virtual interpreting is offered.
