Job Description

Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Bring your passion for American Sign Language to a vibrant Kindergarten classroom, supporting young learners as they take their first steps in ASL communication. This contract position is conveniently structured as half-days, every day throughout the 26-27 academic year, providing you with a balanced, steady schedule from August through June—and the potential to extend your impact further. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you'll play a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive, language-rich environment for energetic Kindergarteners beginning their ASL journey. You'll provide essential support during classroom instruction and interactions, helping students and staff bridge communication gaps while aiding in the introduction of foundational, easy-to-learn signs.
Key Qualifications:
Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) Prior experience as a Sign Language Interpreter or ASL Instructor, ideally within educational settings Comfort working with young children, especially early learners Ability to facilitate and interpret basic ASL—no advanced or complex signing required Strong interpersonal skills, patience, and a collaborative mindset
Responsibilities:
