POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Asphalt Production Manager to lead and optimize asphalt production operations across multiple facilities. This role carries full responsibility for operational performance, financial results, and long-term growth of the Asphalt Production Division. The Asphalt Production Manager will drive execution across all plant operations, ensuring alignment with company objectives related to safety, quality, production efficiency, and profitability. This leader will maintain full P&L accountability, oversee production planning and resource allocation, and build a high-performing team focused on operational excellence and continuous improvement.
JOB DUTIES & REQUIREMENTS
Provide executive leadership and oversight of all asphalt production operations across multiple facilities. Maintain full P&L responsibility, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and margin performance. Develop and execute strategic production plans to meet project schedules, contractual obligations, and financial targets. Lead production scheduling, resource allocation, and logistics coordination across all plant locations. Ensure consistent compliance with contract requirements, project specifications, and quality standards for all HMA production. Drive operational efficiency by monitoring KPIs such as cost per ton, plant utilization, production rates, and yield performance. Oversee procurement, inventory management, and forecasting of raw materials including aggregates, liquid asphalt, fuels, and additives. Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and customers to support operational success. Lead and develop plant managers, supervisors, and production teams; provide coaching, training, and performance management. Partner with executive leadership, operations, and project teams to align production with company goals and market demand. Ensure strict compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements across all facilities. Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all plant operations. Manage capital planning initiatives including plant upgrades, equipment investments, and maintenance strategies. Lead the planning and execution of plant tear-downs, relocations, and re-establishment of portable plants within budget and schedule constraints. Ensure compliance with plant permits, environmental regulations, and property lease agreements. Resolve operational challenges, technical issues, and production constraints with effective and timely decision-making. Serve as primary point of contact for Owners, representatives, and key stakeholders. Provide regular reporting to executive leadership on operational performance, financial results, and strategic initiatives. Perform other duties as assigned. Must have valid driver's license. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
KNOWLEDGE
Extensive knowledge of asphalt plant operations, production processes, and equipment. Strong understanding of HMA mix design development, quality control, and material performance. Proven experience managing P&L, budgets, and financial performance metrics. Deep understanding of multi-site operations, logistics coordination, and supply chain management. Knowledge of environmental compliance, permitting, and regulatory requirements. Strong business acumen with the ability to analyze data and drive strategic decisions.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred. Minimum of 710 years of experience in asphalt production operations, including multi-site leadership experience. Demonstrated success managing financial performance and driving profitability. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to lead in a fast-paced, results-driven environment. Ability to travel regularly between plant locations and job sites. Valid driver's license required.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods during site visits. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally. Comfortable working in outdoor and industrial environments, including exposure to heat, dust, and noise. Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and navigate plant structures safely. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
