Job Title:
Assembler | $20-22 Job Description This role focuses on mechanical assembly and disassembly of machinery and components in a small, hands-on shop environment. You will work on a variety of custom projects rather than high-volume production, using hand and power tools to build, repair, and refurbish equipment while interpreting mechanical drawings and maintaining tight tolerances. Responsibilities Perform mechanical assembly and disassembly of machinery and components using hand and power tools. Grind, drill, and tap parts as needed to meet specifications and complete assemblies. Interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints, including understanding tolerances, dimensions, and standard unit conversions. Use measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and tape measures to verify dimensions and ensure accuracy. Read and follow detailed instructions and layout drawings to complete custom builds, not production-line work. Lift and move parts and assemblies weighing up to 50 pounds safely throughout the workday. Work in physically demanding positions, including climbing ladders, kneeling, crouching, and working in varied postures to access equipment. Support machine building and panel work on the shop floor as needed. Collaborate closely with a small team to meet project deadlines and maintain high quality standards. Assist with basic electrical tasks such as wiring panels and bending conduit if experienced. Contribute to the upkeep and organization of the work area to maintain a safe and efficient environment. Essential Skills At least 2+ years of mechanical assembly experience. Proven experience with assembly, disassembly, drilling, and tapping of mechanical components. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints, including tolerances and dimensions. Proficiency with measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and tape measures. Capability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Comfort working in a very physical role, including climbing ladders, kneeling, crouching, and working in varied positions. Strong mechanical aptitude, such as experience working on cars, trucks, teardowns, or refurbishing mechanical systems. Ability to work effectively in a small team and follow detailed instructions accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with basic electrical work, including wiring panels. Ability to bend conduit for electrical installations. experience with involving fixing cars, performing home repairs, or other hands-on mechanical projects. Comfort working in a non-production, custom-build environment where each project may differ. Attention to detail and a quality-focused mindset when working with tight tolerances. Why Work Here? Work Environment This is a first-shift, full-time role, typically working Monday through Friday from approximately 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with no regular weekend work. During busy periods, there may be occasional Saturday hours. The facility is an office-style, climate-controlled building. The upstairs area houses engineers, sales, and administrative staff in cubicles, while the downstairs area contains the shop floor where panel work and machine building take place. The team is very small, with only a few people in the shop, creating a close-knit atmosphere. The work is physically demanding and hands-on, involving frequent lifting, climbing ladders, kneeling, and crouching while working with tools and machinery. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mayfield, Ohio. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $24.00/hr.
