Job Description Work as part of a team having responsibility for assembling, selecting and processing rough lumber to build windows and doors. We are hiring across all departments. Team assemblers can perform all tasks in the assembly process, rather than being assigned to a specific task on a permanent basis. ProductionRough-Out Woodworkers perform all tasks in the rough-out process at the beginning of the manufacturing process.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Assemble window and door units to assure proper fit, form, and function.
  • Measure and verify glass openings to job specifications or order sheets.
  • Recognize and handle hardware components, mortises, and prepare window and door units for hardware, while verifying correct fit and function.
  • Read and understand work orders and shop drawings to determine product specifications or materials requirements.
  • Understand and safely operate hand tools and stationary wood working equipment as required to complete processes - including saws, joiners, planers, etc.
  • Understand and use tape measures, calipers, and other measuring instruments, and be able to convert between inches feet to metric.
  • Perform quality checks and inspect products and components throughout processes. for accuracy, completeness, and compatibility to job specifications and company standards.
  • Read and understand work orders and shop drawings to determine product specifications or material requirements.
  • Identify wood species and understand their characteristics to select proper lumber for parts to assure quality while using time and materials efficiently.
  • Glue and clamp wood to make laminates, cores, and assemblies as required.
  • Understand and safely set up and operate shapers and tennoners to apply varying profiles to parts as specified on shop drawings.
  • Perform quality checks and inspect products and components throughout processes for accuracy, completeness, and compatibility to job specifications and company standards.
  • Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries to themselves and others by following all safety regulations and procedures.
  • Keep work area clean and organized.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Use basic mathematics and scientific methods to solve problems.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of windows and doors.
  • Communicate effectively and encourage a culture of mutual respect.
  • Allow others to provide feedback and be open minded to changes and corrections.
  • Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Ability to work with others on a team, face-to-face discussions with individuals repeating the same physical activities.
  • Ability to safely operate machines and woodworking tools.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand for long periods of time and lift or move 50 lbs.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that may be distracting or uncomfortable, Safety PPE is provided. Work is conducted indoors. Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people.
