Job Description
Essential Job Functions and Requirements :
Prepare teams for practices and games (taping, treatments, water and ice set up) Determine and communicate whether practice conditions are safe for the cadets (lightning or heat) Organize rehabilitation programs Provide emergency care, evaluate acute and chronic injuries Keep timely and accurate records of injuries and treatments Be available to advise coaches about strength and conditioning programs Contribute their knowledge and skills as part of the Fork Union Military Academy Sports Medicine staff. Assist in the storage, maintenance, and distribution of athletic/medical equipment . Coordinate medical coverage for games and practices Maintain communication with coaches, and infirmary staff Manage concussion action plan Nutritional counseling Assist in the development and training of student athletic trainers Assist with purchasing, inventory, and maintaining of the athletic training supplies and equipment Annual EAP assessment and practice Ensures Academy, HIPAA, FERPA, VISAA, NATA compliance regarding sports related injuries and athletic participation Perform any other duties as neededSpecial Tasks :
Must provide prevention, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for interscholastic athletic program and cadet corps. Travel with the post-graduate football team. Be available during the day to provide treatment and rehabilitation to injured cadets.Work Schedule:
On a normal day the hours are from no later than 0800 until 1800. These hours can change because of athletic contests on weekends and during evening hours.Educational Requirements:
A minimum of a bachelor's degree, Certification by the National Athletic Trainer's Association, License by the Board of Medicine Department of Health Professions.ECC/BLS CPR

Description Assistant Athletic Trainer are responsible for assisting the Athletic Department with day-to-day functions of the training support program, working in conjunction with coaches across multiple sports to support cadets, contribute knowledge and skills within their scope of training, and instilling an environment of inclusion and safety for the cadets on campus.
