Job Description

The primary purpose of your job position as a
RECEPTIONIST
is to perform reception duties in an efficient manner, in accordance with established procedures, and as directed by your supervisor.
  • Acts as a greeter to proactively welcome visitors to the facility and direct visitors to nurses' desks or other areas of the facility. Answers questions; provides assistance; and offers suggestions to enhance the visitor experience;
  • Communicates with the public in a courteous and sensitive manner, projecting a positive and professional image of ELLEN.
  • Cooperates as a front-line team with all staff to provide seamless customer service;
  • Demonstrates respect and dignity to co-workers and visitors;
  • Acts in a proactive manner to maintain a safe environment and notifies all appropriate personnel regarding safety hazards and concerns;
  • Takes responsibility for acquiring, through meetings, on-going training, and individual initiative, all information, product knowledge and interpersonal and communication skill development necessary for successful performance in a front-line staff position.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
: Listed below is an outline of the major duties and responsibilities that you will be required to perform. Even though your job description is broad, every effort has been made to make this outline as complete as possible. HOWEVER, we must emphasize that you may be required to perform other related duties and activities. 1. Receive and follow reception schedule/instructions from your supervisor. 2. Operate telephone system as required. 3. Answer telephone, determine nature of call and relay information within the facility as necessary. 4. Receive inquires and release information in accordance with established policies and procedures. 5. Maintain a current file/list of residents by name and room number, emergency phone numbers of on-call personnel, department extensions, key personnel, etc. 6. Receive request from within the facility and locate personnel within the building by in house phone or cell phone. 7. Maintain a current" listing of critical residents and/or residents who may not receive phone calls due to their condition. (May refer such calls to charge nurse.) 8. Give directions/information to visitors, guest, residents, sales representatives, etc. 9. Reports suspicious persons/information to supervisor immediately. 10. Ensure guest/visitors abide by existing rules and refuse admission to persons as directed. 11. Assist with administrative duties as directed. 12. Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis, as well as a calm environment throughout the facility. 13. Maintain
CONFIDENTIALITY
of all pertinent resident care information to assure resident rights are protected. 14. Follow all established safety procedures and precautions when operating office equipment. 15. Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your supervisor as soon as possible. 16. Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions to your supervisor immediately. 17. Ensure administrative supplies have been replenished in work areas as necessary. 18. Attend and participate in in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs as directed. 19. Attend and participate in workshops, seminars, etc., as approved. 20. Assure that residents' rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints, are followed. 21. Assure that work/assignment areas are neat, clean, and office equipment is covered before leaving such areas on breaks, end of work day, etc. 22. Other related duties as may become necessary or as directed by your supervisor, department director, and/or administrator.
